Program Supervisor / Teacher 3’s Program
As a registered early childhood educator, I have been contributing to the growth and development of young children for over 30 years. I have a wide range of experience in many aspects in the field and cherish being a part of the SCNS family. I value the uniqueness of each child and am honoured to share in their early years experiences. As a mother of three children I have gained valuable insight and understanding of the joys and challenges of parenthood. I strongly believe that children are innately competent, curious and capable. I use basic sign language, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules and many other techniques to enhance an inclusive learning environment which benefits children and their families. I am a passionate teacher and truly enjoy bringing out the potential of each child through a mutual love for play and friendship.

I am very excited to be part of the SCNS team. I have worked in the childcare field since graduating in 2000. I started out as a teacher in a school age program and progressed to be the Supervisor in 2004 until I took a break to raise my family in 2010. I have two beautiful children who are now in school full time so it was time to join the ECE field once again. I believe that Early Childhood Education is the beginning to it all. Young children are like sponges and can soak up so much knowledge. I love to be a small part of their journey to becoming the person they will be. To see the light in their eyes when they understand a new concept or idea that I am trying to teach them is truly what makes my day. I look forward to working with everyone here at SCNS and together enriching all of the children’s lives.
Teacher 3’s Program
I graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2006, with a B.A. in History and completed my Preschool/Kindergarten Montessori Diploma in 2004. I started my teaching career in Stockholm Sweden in 2006 and have over 11 years of experience working with children. I am very excited to be part of the wonderful team of teachers, children and families at SCNS. I value my role as a mother of two wonderful children. I believe that we are here as a guide to help children learn and we are only able to do this by observing them, understanding their interests and allowing them to be independent learners. I am now in the process of taking the ECE course so I can become an RECE teacher.

Teacher 2’s Program
I am very excited to be a part of the SCNS program! I graduated from Algonquin college in 2003 and have worked in the field of ECE since then. I have worked in a variety of daycare settings from preschool programs to most recently an infant program. I also successfully ran my home daycare for nine years while I stayed home with my three children. I thoroughly enjoy taking courses and webinars and learning about new learning approaches and research studies. We are a military family and we are very excited about being back in the Ottawa area again! We live in the community so it is wonderful to be able to work in this wonderful area as well.
Program Assistant 3’s Program
I have always worked with children. Only one of my two children was fortunate enough to get enrolled in the SCNS 2 and 3 year old programs. Being a military family, you look for any opportunity to get involved in the community you belong to. It didn’t take me long to jump in and serve on the Executive Team for two years, as the Registrar, and I looked forward to volunteering in the classroom. During our last year in the program I was hired as Program Assistant to support the teachers in the 2 year old program. With both of my children heading off to school for the full day, I was dreading leaving SCNS. Fortunately, SCNS offered me a contract as Program Assistant, supporting the 3 year old morning classes. It is such a rewarding and fulfilling job! I love this school and everything it has to offer.
My journey with SCNS began when I enrolled both of my children in the program in 2003. I quickly and easily fell in love with the aspect of being a parent volunteer and participating in their first school experience. I looked forward to volunteering anywhere I could and ended up finding my place on the Executive Team for four years. This involvement allowed me to develop an in depth understanding of the school as a business. As my children moved onto “big school” I found myself contemplating my next mission. I was offered a job, as the Business Manager, and jumped at the chance to work at SCNS and share its history with everyone. I truly enjoy working with the parents, children and teachers who make our nursery school feel like a family!
